General Policies

“The following policies are in place to ensure that all of your expectations are fully met”
Initial consultation
This meeting is when we get to meet each other, discuss what your visions are for the event, and help you clarify your ideas. This is also the time when I will learn your concerns, and hopefully alleviate any worries. Initial consultation is usually one hour.

Initial planning meeting
At this meeting, we will put our ideas on the drawing board. I will assist you in creating a plan that suits both your budget and vision. That is my personal commitment to you.

Contract
Once the plan is agreed upon, you and I will sign a Contract, which will clearly outline the costs for the planned arrangements. Upon signing the Contract, a 50% deposit is required.

Cancellation
In the event of a cancellation, the deposit will be reimbursed to you up to one week’s prior written notice, minus all costs incurred for the event by Garry’s Mélange. Any further changes with less than 48 hours’ notice may be subject to additional fees and charges, which will be discussed with you at that time. However, every effort will be made to accommodate your last minute requests. Meals quoted on a per person basis will be billed accordingly without one week’s advance notification.

Staffing
Qualified, courteous service staff can be provided for your event. If cooking is required during the event, a qualified Chef can be provided. If alcohol service is required, staff with a ‘Serving It Right’ certification can also be supplied.

Staff is paid on an hourly basis in accordance with the amounts listed below. The minimum amount of hiring time per individual is four hours. Staffing requirements for events will be considered and arranged for during the initial planning stage.

Our staff generally wears black and white uniforms, however; other arrangements can be made, and should be discussed during the initial planning stage.

Gratuity
A 15% gratuity is automatically billed for all staffed events.

Tax
All costs and fees are subject to applicable federal and provincial tax.

Rentals
We will be happy to take care of all the necessary rental requirements. A 25% surcharge will be added to the total costs of all rented items.

Alcohol
Alcohol products can be provided if requested. All arrangements for purchasing of alcoholic beverages for consumption during the event will be arranged at the time of initial planning. BC’s Liquor Control Board determines the costs of alcohol. These costs will be charged to you. A 25% surcharge will apply to the total cost of the alcohol, which will cover the costs of ordering, pick up and delivery.

You may make your own arrangements for alcohol prior to the event. These arrangements will be outlined in the Contract. Please note that there are Provincial laws regarding the serving of alcohol, and if you plan to make all arrangements yourself, you will be required to apply for a license.

Traveling Costs
Charges will be applied for all travel time incurred by Garry’s Mélange. A fee of $2.00 per kilometer will be added to the regular billing. These charges will also apply to pick-up and delivery of rental equipment.

Payment
The balance of your account is due upon completion of your event, and must be paid within five business days to avoid any additional charges. Liquor fees must be paid two weeks prior to the event.

For you convenience, we offer VISA and MasterCard services. Following your event, any unpaid or declined payments at the time of processing will be subject to a charge of 5% per month.
